Why join TEMPO?

 

WHAT IS TEMPO?

The Tredyffrin Easttown Music Parents Organization was formed over 25 years ago to support music activities in our school district through financial and volunteer contributions. 

 

WHO SHOULD JOIN TEMPO?

·  Families of all students who participate in a music organization at Conestoga H.S.

·  Anyone with an interest in ensuring the continued quality of our music programs

 

WHAT DOES TEMPO DO WITH THE MONEY WE RAISE?

The money TEMPO raises through membership fees and concession stand sales (our only sources of revenue) is used to support music programs throughout the district.  We have purchased equipment, musical instruments, and supplies that are not covered by district funding. The trailer we purchased for the music department last year ($12,000) benefits all music students by freeing up more storage space in the building and providing a very visible presence for Conestoga whenever the marching band travels to an event. Tempo purchased a new copier for the music wing and we are currently working toward the purchase of new choral risers. We pay for the Stogamusic.com website which facilitates communication between faculty, students and parents, and provides the opportunity for online ticketing for the fall drama and spring musical.

 

We send the student leaders of the band (Drum Majors and Color Guard Captains) to leadership camp at West Chester University at a cost of over $5000 each year.  We buy pizza for the band when it isn't practical for the students to get home for dinner before a game or event (over $500 each time we do this).  The band members also receive a free drink during their third quarter break at every home football game.

 

We purchase the pins and awards that all music students receive at the end of the year (over $3000) and we award scholarships each year to about 10 seniors who plan to pursue their interest in music at the college level. We pay for several events like the Tri-M reception, Senior Recognition Night, the Music Meet and Greet (lunch with 8th grade students to encourage them to participate in music groups at CHS), and Guys Harmonize. We also subsidize the cost of the annual banquet in order to keep the price lower for families.

 

We go to the effort of providing a variety of fundraising options in order to make the music trips more affordable for the students. Tempo fronts the cost for all of these fundraisers but receives no financial gain. We really need your help to continue these programs.

 

WHAT ELSE DOES TEMPO MEMBERSHIP DO FOR ME?

Students who are members of TEMPO receive:

·  Price reductions for music trips and the TEMPO banquet

·  The opportunity to raise all or most of the cost of the music trips through

  participation in Tempo fundraisers.

 

HOW DO I JOIN TEMPO?
